If you're duplicating XP to pirate it, you'll fail. Appreciate it, and don't look a gifted horse in the mouth. If you're not looking to exploit it, then LR has given you a 'let-off'. Not something that can be set by a simple rule.

The issue that needs addressing here is 'intent', and that requires subjectivity to determine. In my little old town, rules are vague because we have learnt that making them solid becomes more problematic. LR's stance can be considered vague, but if you're looking to exploit it it is pretty clear that it will cause you to fail. This is a little analogous to the situation regarding the OP, and also as to why we love XP and LR (and yes, Austin too).

Do you do it just because you don't think you're going to get caught, or heard that others got away with it? Everyone has different ethical standards in different situations: I do not take what is not mine, even knowing that I could get away with it but I may have exceeded the speed limit on the highway in the past. At a certain point, it also becomes an ethical decision. What they look for in the automated validation process, can or decide to enforce, may obviously be different. I lost their reply in a computer upgrade a while back, but as far as I can remember, the answer was pretty much a cut and paste of what is on the website site now. Back when I bought XP10 (was that 7-8 years ago?), I asked about installing on 2 computers through e-mail. I do not know what Laminar decides to enforce these days through their automated licence check. I only meant to say the written word should trump interpretations or opinions, whether on the web site, or in a EULA, that's all. I never meant to tell anyone they could not read.
